The World Geothermal Congress has drawn to a close in Melbourne, Australia (19-24 April 2015). Known as the Olympics for the geothermal industry, this five yearly important industry event gathered experts in the geothermal field from all over the world and offered a global update on scientific, technical, business and societal topics concerning the geothermal industry as well as facilitating a unique networking opportunity.

The award-winning EXERGY stand was a focal point for industry experts to gather to discuss EXERGY's leading-edge ORC solutions applying the Radial Outflow Turbine technology to geothermal resource exploitation. With many visitors, our EXERGY experts welcomed the opportunity to discuss and demonstrate EXERGY’s capabilities with delegates and potential clients.

The EXERGY team were enthusiastic and active participants at the Congress, hosting a party to celebrate our recent successes and impressive market growth. As an Italian company we hosted an Italian food and drinks evening to allow delegates to get to know each other and network in a relaxed atmosphere.

The senior EXERGY team also made an important contribution at WGC in the Session on Power Generation, where EXERGY’s CEO Claudio Spadacini and Sales & Marketing Director Anthony Hinde presented two papers entitled:

- "Geothermal energy exploitation with the organic radial outflow turbine"

- "The first geothermal organic radial outflow turbines"

In the first paper Claudio Spadacini outlined the innovative turbine configuration for geothermal applications developed by EXERGY: the organic radial outflow turbine. Geothermal energy exploitation for electric power production is possible by utilizing two main systems, the steam turbines and the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) binary power plants. This paper presented the main features that differentiate the radial outflow turbine in binary geothermal applications.

In the second paper Anthony Hinde analyzed the performances encountered in the first installation of the organic radial outflow turbine in a geothermal field, the Bagnore power plant of ENEL Green Power, and the current and future development of such turbine configuration for multi pressure level cycles.

In recognition of EXERGY's commitment to the WGC, ThinkGeoEnergy, IGA (Internation Geothermal Association) and the conference company Arinex awarded EXERGY with a prestigious BEST OF SHOW award.

EXERGY are proud to have supported the World Geothermal Congress 2015 in Melbourne and look forward to the next edition.
